anything goes

You would not believe how hard it is to find eight cheap baby dolls the day before Halloween.

(why didn’t they just go ahead and make one of them a boy? You’ve got to love the use of “Li’l”—found this gems just a few blocks over on 14th street after searching in nearly every discount store, neighborhood in Manhattan. And don’t even get me started on the places I called to ask in advance.)

Tomorrow marks my first ever Halloween in New York City. Obviously, we’re going to the village parade with 80,000 other people. The New York Times calls it, “the best entertainment the people of this city ever give the people of this city.” Apparently this is one of those things you just have to do once but from what I hear it’s so traumatizing that in years to come you’ll want to venture miles, no, boroughs away from the the west village madness and even the thought of watching it on TV will make you queasy. I’ll let you know how awesomely painful it is.

PS. The theme this year is “Terra Incognita/Hic Dracones Sunt” which means “Here Be Dragons.” This year the parade is also doubling as a Michael Jackson tribute.
