What Hath God Wrought?
In a peculiar turn of events (or at least for the love of arts) Brooklyn seems to be going old school-like really, old school, like one-room schoolhouse with a potbelly stove, old school. This afternoon a ribbon cutting for the Great Trans-Gowanus Cable (a real, fully functioning telegraph) will take place in Brooklyn. Free pies and champagne for all, but you better brush up on your Morse Code. The project is made possible courtesy of a $1000 FEAST grant.

I’m staying on the mainland though to see the urban phenomenon known as Manhattanhenge. The Manhattan Solstice, when the sun sets directly in alignment with the grids of streets, happens only twice a year-one of those times being tonight at 8:25 pm. For the best views try 14th, 23rd, 34th. 42nd and 57th.
edit-taken at 8:23 tonight at 14th and 3rd ave.
